Company of the Year 2023: Bronze Award

MEGA's story impressed at the national competition

We gained bronze in the 18th annual Company of the Year awards

18 years ago, the nationwide Czech competition Company of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year was established to support small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs. The aim is to find inspiring stories that deserve to be told. And it was the story of MEGA, which began almost 40 years ago, that took 3rd place this year, proving that modern technology, applied research and sustainability can go hand in hand to achieve great results.

The first place goes to CRYTUR, a Turnov-based company producing synthetic crystals, while the second place goes to Vasky, a young company that is successfully trying to preserve the shoemaking craft.

Another achievement of MEGA was the 1st place in the category Company of the Year 2023 of the Capital City of Prague. "Despite the highly technical field, the jury appreciated that the winner is dedicated to 21st-century technologies. It engages brilliantly in the circular economy with its membranes. In the future, we cannot do without membrane technologies on a global scale. The personal story of the company owner is very important," says Igor Wotke from PwC Czech Republic.

"It shows that our vision of combining modern technology, applied research and sustainability can go hand in hand and achieve great results. And this has been the best business path for us for more than thirty years."

What is the Company of the Year Award

The Company of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year awards were established in 2005 and their aim is to raise awareness of the inspiring stories of successful entrepreneurs, traditional family businesses and budding enthusiasts. It doesn't matter what industry, focus, or size.

An expert jury composed of representatives of professional partners, managers of large companies, and winners of previous competitions first compiles regional rankings in all 14 regions of the Czech Republic. The winners from each region then advance to the national finals, which is traditionally associated with a gala evening at Žofín, co-produced and broadcast by Czech Television.

The aim of the award is to spark a debate on the topic of entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic. It is important to draw attention to our companies and tradesmen who do a great job and create value that benefits customers and society.
